Their website shows a soon to be available discrete resistor R-2R ladder dac called the Echo's end though.

Yes, I see that now...
I just saw the DAC 2004 MKII no longer available and nothing in a DAC listed under the PRODUCTS tab.
Echo looks like a DAC 2004 with a much nicer chassis. That said, if they are going to try to do a discrete precision resistor R2-R ladder DAC, that is NOT and easy task to do well. Especially for 'only' $4K.
Here's wishing them luck though and an 'atta boy' for even trying.
In case anyone cares.
I have the EE, and my Weiss DAC202 and Auralic Vega both went on Audiogon.
My buddy has one. Out went his Weiss Medus.
The most natural sounding DAC either of us has ever heard.
For diyers, there is the Soekris dam1021 at a very reasonable price. It had a bumpy start, according to posts at diyAudio, but apparently it is now sounding quite good after tweaks to hardware and software filters by diyers and some changes by Soekris.
If I didn't already have a diy tda1541a dac with fifo buffer and reclocking, etc, I would try one of these boards.
