Pavane, La Scala and Yggy all interest me. MSB as well, but too rich for my budget.
I don't think I'd like a delta sigma DAC except perhaps Bricasti.
Follow Ups:
I upgraded from the Hex to the Pavane and found it to be an improvement (of the Hex's good performance) in just about every respect and specifically improving soundstaging/dimensionality and bass. The resolution is the best I have heard. Like the Hex, it leans toward sounding neutral and if it were not so musical it may be too much truth for some systems. I have other components that are also musical and add a touch of warmth, which provides a good balance. The Totaldac USB cable and Uptone Audio REGEN were also nice upgrades.I have not had many DACs through here but I did audition the Lampizator L4G4 (loose bass and blown up soundstage, IMO) and the LaScala, which I found to sound better than the Lampizator but a bit unnatural in my system (sort of a forced sound, maybe from 6V output?). The Pavane suited my tastes better than those two DACs. I would really like to hear the Audio-GD Master 7 as I have owned several very good sounding disc players that used the BB1704K chip.

often used is 'neutral'.
I have not heard the Metrum DACs so I can't comment. That said, I do have the Audio-GD Master 11 (half the BB1704K-U chips as the Master 7 but with a great SS headphone amp) and it is hard to describe the sound except to say that it doesn't sound 'digital'.
It doesn't, to my ears, necessarily sound like 'vinyl' either, because it's not quite THAT relaxed and natural, but MOST of what I HATE about digital is gone.
And now my problem is I have a large dent in the top of my head from wearing headphones for hours at a time. =:-0
with my (different) 1704 DAC.

And become a hole. Then the sound will improve dramatically :)
but also do check out the PS Audio DirectStream as it appears to be in the same price range as the Metrum Pavane?
If I were serious I would email PS Audio directly. They MIGHT do a one-two week trial?
But like Al below, I'm happy with the Audio-GD Master 11 that just arrived a few weeks ago.
Check out the Audio-GD Master 7.
