The screws that go nowhere may or may not be on the OP's unit. I guess they are on yours. They could be put on to reduce the metal covers potential for vibration. I'm sure I don't know why and I sure as hell have no idea what you think since you did not elaborate.

Again I have no idea, email the guy that wrote the review. I'm sure he would tell you. You have one and perhaps you could tell us your thoughts which would add to the thread unlike this post I am responding to which does not. Please let us know about the Sonic X-treme's of this DAC.
