Hi and sorry to hear that.
And i am surprised about the Pioneer digital out not working.
This is very annoying also.
I tried the toslink out from my tv and was working quite ok also.
One thing is sure ... when i go back to the internal speakers of the TV i am shocked by their poor sound.
They are extremely low quality.
Almost unbearable actually.
Kind regards,

I ended up using HDMI ARC (audio return channel){same HDMI cable as video from BD player to TV} from my TV to my Oppo 103 which has analog out to my amp. It works well, and cuts down on the number of cables used.

Hi ! very interesting !
i did not know that the Oppo 103 had a HDMI in ... very very good.
Other solutions that i have not tried could be the HDMI switchers like the one in the picture
but i guess that the very good ones (professional like Gefen) are very very expensive
Kind regards,

The Oppo can accept audio Input from the same HDMI output that I;m using to send signal to my TV. This may be the way things go in the future.
I had a 2-way HDMI switcher that was rather cheap. Monoprice has them. It worked well.

" The Oppo can accept audio Input from the same HDMI output that I;m using to send signal to my TV "Hi ! it is clearly a great brand making really outstanding products
and i am sure that the AV quality is very high
But lately i found myself watching a lot Netflix and streaming cd ripped and stored in a Nas ... so i am more intrigued by AV streamers, possibly with a great spdif out.
I am a little worried about the transport mechanisms ... they can develop issues. But i guess the streaming part of the units will still work anyway. I could look for an Oppo like the 103 pretty soon.
Maybe i will find some nice bargain ...
Thanks again for the very interesting information.
Kind regards,
bg
