Hi, Tony
I can see your point about convenience, I just haven't ever had the need. Other than screen size there isn't any reason for me. I read on my HTC with no issue, I am using it to reply to this thread :) I can concede to the fact that if I got something like SimAudio's Mind streamer, I may use an iPad to control it. We have one around the house for her, it's a couple years old now but she uses it. None of my current gear has remote capability save for the DVD player I use as a transport. As for HT, that's a side interest for me and the only 2 sources I use in that system (PS3 and XBox) have controllers. As for writing, or any productive task, I agree desktops are better. I use dual monitors with one set up in portrait specifically for viewing documents while having the other monitor for web etc. I would not want to do a spread sheet on this HTC or the iPad, no thank you.

These devices can get out of hand. A woman came to a restaurant where I was dining at the bar. She had a smart phone, a tablet and a lap top. During the time she was there she wasn't very sociable, but she did use all three of her electronic devices. Apart from talking with the bartender to place orders, she hardly said a word to anyone in the room.

A youth-challenged guy, I am somewhat gadget-phobic, but I am going deaf. A company called StarkeyPro advertises hearing aids adjustable for, inter al., frequency-response and directionality. Seems ideal for, e.g., restaurant situations. But adjustment requires some sort of computer device (they mention iPhones, iPads, & the like). I wonder if my use of such devices would annoy others in a way similar to that in which others' use of cell phones at dinner annoys me.

Tony, I know what you mean. I see it all the time, at coffee shops everyone is buried in their device, in bars the same. Everyone seems hooked on "social media" but none seems to want to be social....
