Follow Ups:
I have the Micromega Mydac and I like it a lot. I have two older Micromega dacs and the Mydac sounds clearer and more refined. If you get the Mydac, you should replace the power cord. I'm using a cheap old Volex with a C7 adapter and it made a noticeable improvement in the sound. Finding the right interconnects to use with the Mydac may take some experimentation and patience.
the dac would not be my primary digital source just for convenience.
the reason i picked these is because i can get them at about the same price $220-$250. i decided to go with the micromega mydac.

Strictly for convenience and not as a primary source, this DAC works quite nicely. We have one hidden behind the TV driving an integrated amp in the family room. It's been doing it's job for about a year now.Of course, it is far from 'audiophile approved' but for it's intended purpose and price you can hardly go wrong. Optical & Coaxial inputs only, no USB. $30 USD.

I had concidered the MyDac as well. What are your thoughts so far?
I have a Micromega MyDac. I used it with a CD transport. I share the previous poster's view about the power cord. This is a must. I also put a myrtle block on top of it. There are lots of tuning options.
Interesting choice.
I suppose this is your first dac?

Would you consider your current choice a lateral move or a step up?

Oops, just saw DAC 4, I haven't heard that one either. I'd flip a coin between the rDac and MyDac :)
I haven't heard these 3. I do remeber reading (in forums and such) that the vDAC was pretty decent with an upgraded power supply. The Arcam is supposed to also be quite good for the price. Stereophile ranked the Arcam a class B (if you consider their opinion at all valuable :)) and prefered it Music Fideliy's M1 DAC. The Cambridge is supposed to be a good budget DAC. If I had to roll the dice on one unheard, I would give the Arcam a go. I have read a lot of good reviews an had considered the Arcam before deciding on my SimAudio.
I would rank them as being too old to be relevant.
In their day each of them were average at best.

No experience with any of those, but tried MF V-Link 192 converter briefly several years ago - it was a non-contender, compared to $100 more expensive Wyred4Sound uLink.
I guess if the price is the only criteria, it's worth looking into products like those.
I don't know... break up some wooden matchsticks & assign them to each to 1 of these "cough,cough... DACs"
You didn't want us to actually listen to any of these did you ?
(I would imagine you'd have to nit-pick a bit to rank 1 of these ahead of
the others) (Any of these will be an improvement if you need a basic DAC)
