I think you have to tell it to play SCAD with the remote. Do you have the remote?

Wow,thanks for all the interest guys !!!
Being somewhat of a "Worry Wort" I don't really seem to have the dreaded
disc recognition problem...yet! I seem to have an unusual Hybrid SACD that
for some reason may not even be DSD as I can't find anything on the disc
or the SACD case indicating this or (Which may be why I can find that Multich/Stereo icon either). For the time being I'm hoping it was a "One
& done" occurrence (But I downloaded the Service Manual & will be opening
this baby up to make sure the transport pillars are nice & snug)
When I had originally picked up this player my system building knowledge
wasn't anywhere near to where I think it is now ! This is a pretty nice
component. Being only a 2nd generation ES SACD player it has a lot of
that nice solidity that doesn't seem to exist in many modern disc players. I honestly didn't expect it to still sound "Relevant" anymore so
I'm still a little surprised that I like it ! (& I really haven't
had much of a chance to "play around" with it...yet!
I'll let everyone know whether it's worth the time to tweak it. It looks
slightly promising (the truth is we just like messing with this stuff)
This player was a real winner for Sony upon release, as it captured both, audiophile (CD/SACD) and videophile (DVD) fans for $1500-
