For an interesting take on error correction codes, jitter, and digital playback in general, check out this review of The Memory Player 64 by Ross Wagner from Positive Feedback.
http://www.positive-feedback.com/Issue65/memoryplayer.htm
The Memory Player 64 is revolutionary and the interview that Ross Wagner did with the product's designer Mark Porzilli offers a different take on digital audio. The point is that digital music playback is more about computer code and controlling jitter than simply building a better computer.
This article and The Memory Player 64 web site may not change your mind about digital playback in general or ECC specifically, but it is an interesting read. It offers a viewpoint from the product's designer himself that looks at things in a different way.

Hi and thanks for the link to an impressive article
i had the feeling that reading from an optical cd were a complex task and this article confirms my fears.
I wonder how expensive must be a good reading of a cd
$17,950 is a lot of money indeed.
Thanks a lot again.
Kind regards,
bg
Its worth noting that the referenced article was written in 2012 and needless to say prices have changed. And not for the better! I thought this would be an interesting article not because of a product itself, but rather an insightful look into digital audio from someone who is very well versed in the subject. Hopefully, this article will give you some things to think about moving forward.
Hi and thanks again.
what scares me is that the more i read the more the task of reading wav files from a cd appears very challenging to me, with only high level units able to do it rightly.
Kind regards,
bg
