written onto a CD for someone.
Don't own the tunes and don't have them downloaded but need to cut a CD for someone with the tunes on them.
I don't normally rip CD's but as I don't have the tunes on CD anyway, that won't work.
Can I buy the tunes on iTunes(or Amazon or wherever) and write them to a CD?
Follow Ups:
Yes, you can download the tunes as MP3 and copy onto data CD.
Yes, you can download these mp3s and copy them onto a DATA CD. Many CD/DVD players, as well as PCs, will play them directly.
If the recipient wants an AUDIO CD, then you have to convert the downloaded mp3 files into WAV files and use a CD-burning program to create an audio disc.
Might be easier to buy the CD's used and rip and then burn the chosen tracks to a writable disc?
Yes, you could buy a disc and copy it, or you could google "how to burn mp3 files to cd." I don't want to go through a detailed explanation here because the procedure depends on whether you have a PC or a Mac, and on what software you have.
Thanks,
Turns out I'm not doing mp-3 downloads but ripping and writing tracks from a CD.
What I ended up doing is buying two used CDs from AMAZON that have the two tracks I'm looking for. When I get them I'll try to rip the tracks to a Writable CD.
The reason I don't want to risk mp-3 conversion is that my CD player will play ANYTHING on a disk even if I do it wrong, while the folks in Europe might not have that capability.
The music in question is in remembrance of their recently passed daughter.
