Audioquest cables, which were CAT5 to a CAT 7 Rosewill.

Well, I can't speak for Sprezza.
I'm at ease with the IT notion that data is data. It is. Until it isn't. In other words, right up to the point where we need data to be transcoded into something else, something we call music. At which point, as many have found, the ways in which noise interferes, timing de-registers (or not) and tonal qualities vary - bite hard.
Using the I2S interface between my transport and DAC was revelatory enough, per se. Changing from the supplied CAT5 cord to a Blue Jeans CAT 6A raised a couple of eyebrows. Listening to the Vodka removes doubt that - as others have repeatedly said - in audio, everything matters. I'm at peace with that, too.
Have a listen, if you can find a loan example for demonstration.

I agree with you that cables can cause or affect a component's or system's final sound in an appropriate context: RJ45. True with I2s, especially, as I2s seems particularly sensitive to distance.
Without going into the possible design properties, a $3 Rosewill CAT 7 performed the same as an $80 AQ CAT (speculating) 5. Not to say that that wil be the case in a wide range of systems.
Both the AQ and Rosewill perform better than standard CAT5/CAT6.
I am not a fan of AQ, never heard their cables sound as good as others, some being much cheaper. Darko's review of them really sucked, as he never conducted a comparison, much less a poor comparison...
All that being said, I am glad that you improved YOUR sound and your system: and I have not had your experiences with your equipment: so I could be FOS.
Cheers,

Fair enough.
Having said that, and having listened to the Vodka for a week, we can report that we like the difference it's making. I am curious to know what difference the Diamond could make but at those prices, I think I'd prefer to put the balance into a new DAC.
