Try it if you can and then YOU can decide how you like it.
I'm still using my ancient EAD DAC and still like it's sound.
Of course that doesn't mean that there may not other units out there that I would enjoy even more. It seems certain. But to me the important thing is that if you buy gear that makes music for you and works in a manner that you approve of then it will likely continue to do so for a long time.

Rick-
can EAD gear still get serviced/repaired?
Somebody still services it, I'll try and find out who. Search here (AA, maybe not this asylum) because someone posted on it last year.Oh I remember, Noble Electronics

"can EAD gear still get serviced/repaired?"
I have no idea if there is anything resembling "factory service" still available for them. Mine has never needed any work.
However in general the electronics should be serviceable, my DAC has an open layout that would be easy to work on if needed and I don't recall there being any custom parts in it. Stuff with moving parts like the players would likely depend upon availablility of the drives or their equivalent.
Sorry I can't say more but on the other hand not having any problems is a pretty good thing...

Hi and thanks for the reply
I admit i am quite confused when it comes to digital and lately i have seen many messages lauding older equipment based on multibit dacs.
The asking price is equivalent to 400 USD.
Unfortunately i cannot try before buying it.
The look is exceptional.
Thanks again.
Kind regards,
bg
