In Reply to: RE: OPPO 105 - need to format SSD - but which format? posted by Kal Rubinson on February 03, 2015 at 06:30:20
Actually, Kal, my intention is to use an external USB SSD.
I have the manual but again, I've already tried formatting for Windows NTFS, but after doing so I can't transfer any music to the SSD drive when plugged into my macbook pro. Almost like the SSD is locked.
When I format the drive for the mac os extended journaled, I can transfer music to it. The OPPO recognizes the SSD when I plug it in but it shows zero objects, even thought there's 10GB of music on the SSD.

Looks like this:
The Mac recognizes the drive and files when set up with Mac OS but the Oppo will not.
The Oppo will recognize the Win-formatted disc but you cannot load files from the Mac.
Can't help you. If you want to use the Oppo this way, my suggestion is to use a PC and not the Mac (and that's what I do.)
Thanks, Kal. That was going to be my next attempt but my wife's laptop is a POS.
That should work. Maybe it's time I try using bootcamp (windows on mac).
Try the mac again with journeling DISABLED.
Too much is never enough
I think that works on Mac and PC, IIRC.

Yeah, tried that tonight. I got to hear 5 seconds of music before it paused and never returned.
This SSD is several years old and perhaps needs a few extra mv than the OPPO is providing via the USB port.
