Hi,
Without an USB connection you need to provide a power source via USB to keep the iDSD micro running. A better grade cellphone charger will work.
There is an SPDIF input (in/out actually), simply attach a RCA SPDIF cable and you are good to go. It auto-selects inputs, but some configuration is worth doing.
For using it strictly as DAC, set the power mode to Eco, iEMatch to off, Line out to direct. Filter to Bitperfect for bypassing oversampling/digital filters. Polarity (unless you believe in it / are sensitive to it) to +.

At 20 bits, you are on the verge of dynamic range covering fly-farts-at-20-feet to untolerable pain. Really, what more could we need?

That is what i suspected from looking at the pictures. And it will accept a 44.1Hz/16 bit PMC digital "signal"?
Observe, before you think. Think before you open your yap. Act on the basis of experience.
Hi,
The SPDIF in will accept anything from CD-Standard 44.1khz/16Bit to 192k/24Bit, via USB you get up to 768kHz/32Bit (and anything lower) and up to DSD515 (aka 22.579MHz Single Bit).
