I really like Linn sources, especially the DS range which I own. But I've never heard a Linn system demo sound all that good. The last time was a full Akurate system with 242s (passive), which sounded clean and transparent and neutral but also undynamic and lacking in soundstage. I've heard that Exakt is on another level. Was it?
TIA

dynamic, a little in your face with a fat bottom end. The Exakt was not. It was clean and a little lean for my tastes. There were a lot of folks there that really liked the presentation. The DSP room correction and speaker placement correction features were very interesting.
Thanks, that's similar to what I've heard before from their passive setups. I expected the active speakers to be more dynamic. Which Exakt system was it, Klimax, Akubarik, or Akudorik?
The room & speaker placement correction is interesting, but for some reason they decided to really limit what the end user or installer can do with it. I guess they are being conservative and trying to prevent untrained people from screwing up the sound, but I would have liked full control over the notch filters. The software is set up to calculate room modes based on room dimensions, but every room is different and not all are rectangular. I'd rather measure the room first and then tell the software what to do.
Dynaudio just came out with their active Focus XD series, which are also using DSP crossovers. I'm actually a lot more interested in hearing those than the Exakt.
