I have a Metrum Hex in house. Only two days. I will listen for a few weeks and then do a review. My initial impression is that this is a killer dac.

Very nice! Alan. I look forward to your review.
As you see from my post above the review may have to wait until I find the best cable for it.

Where does one buy the Metrum Hex? Metrum's website shows a couple dealers in the USA but I'm not sure that the listing is up to date. Are there any 'well known' online / mail order retailers who carry it? Thanks!
Oh, and we're anxiously awaiting a more detailed review once you've had your Metrum Hex for a while. Please post.
I purchased mine (on-line) from HiFiHeaven in Green Bay, Wisconsin and they were very easy folks to deal with.
I gotta agree with Old SteveA, the DAC is "seriously musical."
If you look at reviews, you will notice this is one of a few DACs where the reviewers generally say the async USB converter sounds as good as any of the outboard converters they have tried with it. Every review I have read about the Hex called it a win. I have not owned a lot of DACs so can only compare it with several really good CD players and I find it to be pretty much equal to the best of them (which I recently sold) and better sounding than most.
Here is the US distributor

Actually I bought mine used on the Audiomart site
I am just starting to listen to the USB input.
I will have a full review in about a weeks time

Alan,
I have had my Hex for a few years now & I find myself going back to the 6 Moons review of this DAC quite often & saying "Okay, that is what was meant
when Srajan(SP?)said "this"or"that". This is a seriously "musical" sounding
piece of equipment.
I've been using a High Fidelity Cables CT-1 digital coax w/ the Hex . I have
no idea whatsoever how this DAC sounds w/ non Acoustic music, but it has a sense of scale w/ Orchestral music that is just magical !
Had mine for about six months now. It replaced a nearly 15 year old Dodson 217 MK II D which I still have a great deal of respect for. Performance at the frequency extremes has exceeded my expectations but where it really seems to show its stuff is at retrieval of heretofore hidden detail. I connect it to the transport via unbalanced Stealth Varidig sextet (transport doesn't have balanced out).
I'm sure you'll be taken with it.
I liked what I have heard as well. However, only heard it with Swiss tube amps from Colotube...
