Hello!
I'm curious about this Parasound CDP2000 Ultra CD player that I just saw in the local ads.
All the reviews seem very good, but i quite like the CD player i currently own (Kenwood DP7090) wich, if not really High-end, is a fantastic machine for the price, punching way above its class, with eight BurrBrown PCM1702 in differential mode. It does sound great, detailed and "liquid", but the tonal balance is slightly on the "bright" side, not that the treble is enhanced or anything, but i'd like something a bit more heavy and dark as I'm using horn speakers and sometimes the tonal balance lacks warmth.
I was wondering if this Parasound player would be an upgrade.
Also, I'm located in Brussels, and Parasound is not such a common brand around here, and reliability has to be high, and I need to know if transport, lens, and such things prone to failure are still available...
thanks folks!

SFP1, a sanyo part, or the SF90 were both used by Parasound in the CDP2000
Too much is never enough
I'm sure it's a good sounding player, but geez, a major upgrade on what you have? Probably not. AND the reliability, after 15+ years in service? Who knows.
Doesn't the Kenwood have a digital out you could experiment with / external DAC?
One advantage with the Parasound might be, being able to play around with aftermarket power cords, which can help sound a bit.
I think the budget high end player to beat is the Naim CD5.
Apparently my Kenwood is one of the very best contenders for "lampization". I might just go that road.

Beautiful pics! Very cool stuff indeed- we need more modders out there.
Absolutely! Tom -the NAIM is the very best cd player at its price-point.
Next, would be the newest Parasound CD1. Both killer red-book cd players and offers the most pleasurable listening experience.
