Via HDMI I much prefer sound & picture from the Sony 1000ES to the Oppo 103, IMO picture on the Oppo is bright unnatural & fatiguing to watch as for the sound the HF just does not compare well with the Sony, plus Oppos are a rip-off price especially in the UK.

Hi and thanks for the valuable advice
Are you referring to the Sony ES BDP-S1000ES ?
It is an interesting piece indeed
I would like to use it as a player also for wav files from USB stick
What do you think ?
Thanks again
Kind regards,
bg
Yes Sony BDP-1000ES or UK model BDP-760. I am not into streaming or downloading audio and never will be. I
like collecting discs CDs, SACDs & BDs

Disbeliever claims it's naive to trust any review and not listen for yourself. But listening for yourself can be impractical for those of us who do not live near or wish to travel to a big city. Nor is it practical for those of us who like to buy used equipment. Furthermore, listening, except when the component is in your own setup, can be quite misleading.

Therefore you are one of the unfortunates. Sometimes the reviews are correct. but can not totally be relied upon. So you have to chance it you may be lucky.

Funny, I don't feel unfortunate when I listen to my Ayre C-5xeMP sending its analog output through my Parasound JC-2 preamp to Proceed HPA amps that drive KEF Reference 107/2 speakers, nor when I listen to my Thorens TD 124 with Ortofon SME 30H cartridge through that same system. All those components were bought used without audition.
