I've owned a NAD T571 DVD/CD player with carousel for 10 years and loved it.
Today it won't open no matter what I try.
There are a couple of CD's inside it!
Power button shows green but no other indication of operation shows _ mini screen on front panel shows nothing.
Think I'll have to open it up.
What should I look for?
Any help appreciated!

Thanks for the help. I've tried on/off and all the buttons many times to no avail. Opened it up and retrieved my CDs from the carousel except the one in the player itself which rotates freeely but is locked in position so the laser can read it.
I think SteveA is onto something with the stuck beteween cycles thought.
Any ideas how i can unlock it?
None of the keys do anything yet the power button shows green.
the ribbon connecting the front panel and Motherboard? looks in good shape.
Thoughts?
Has a "manual override" to force the drawer to open. Take a close look at the front of the drawer and you should see a little pinhole. Turn on the player. Take a straightened paper clip and push it into the hole until you feel some resistance. Then push it a bit harder and the drawer should pop open.
If that does not work, you will need to pop the case and remove the discs...
Let us know how you fare....

Not to be a "wise guy", but did you unplug the player & let it sit for while before re-plugging
it back in & then try hitting the stop / play buttons on the player ?
I mention this because with nothing showing on the display the player could be "stuck" between an operational cycle in that some type of momentary power glitch occurred &
the player does'nt know what mode it's in. It's not necessarily something mechanical (like the tray belt) that is the problem if the player was sitting in a static state before you noticed the problem.
Not sure of OEM . there may be three or four belts.
First see if laser mechanism goes up and down when you press play. if ok see if carousel rotates when you change disc (belt #2). Then if tray doesn't open theres a belt for that motor too. I"ve seen a fourth belt on certain models but I forget where
good luck
