It's about the need for proprietary applications in order to steam the services one pays for.
Spotify streams fine with SONOS because SONOS has an app for streaming it. OTOH, SONOS does not allow streaming of QOBUZ in the US but it does in Europe, as there is no app available in the US. SONOS claims that QOBUZ is not licensed in the US and I subscribed while living in France.
Sadly, the NA7004 has no Spotify app that I know of, whether you pay for Spotify or not. It WILL play Spotify via Air Play, if you have an Apple product on the same wired network. The Apple OS-X app for QOBUZ claims to support Air Play but I haven't been able to make it work in the US. I'll try in in Europe next month and see if it works there.
Been thinking about getting a SqueezeBox Touch on Ebay but don't know if I have the energy or concentration left in my aging brain deal with all of the third-party software needed to make it do what I want.

So does Squeezebox Touch, the topic of conversation.

Who is asking about Sonos accessibility?
A Touch will play most any service or internet radio station available. While they require an app, SB has about thirty and some require fee for service (I pay for XM radio).
doesn't steam Spotify might be because Spotify isn't free.
Still a bit confused by your comment that SB requires a fee. A fee to the service or a fee for the SB app?
To the OP topic, I have no idea why Marantz NA-7004 doesn't seem to support subscription services like Spotify as it would appear that SB does (with third party software?) and SONOS does with SONOS spps.
But again, to your original comment, Spotify being a subscription service does not prevent its use with some devices, just NOT the Marantz NA7004 while the current production Marantz NA-11S1 appears to support Spotify. As an NA-7004 owner like the OP, here's hoping for one more software update.

here where my comments were focused entirely upon AT's comment about the "vagueness" with Squeezebox Touch. I made no comments about his Marantz.

The Spotify app is found on their app website

It's not SB that requires a fee. Let's revisit what I wrote:
"While they require an app, SB has about thirty and some require fee for service (I pay for XM radio)."
It is XM (one of some) that requres a fee. As do some other services accessible via a SB unit.
