Picked this up along with some other gear that needs up and will be attended to later :) The EAD will accept the cd but won't spin it. All fuses are fine, I cleaned the lens also. After a bit the tray slides back out. So, any thoughts? Did I just get a very very heavy door stop?

OP-
I knew a guy named Buddy whom used to own EAD gear. Worth a try- Fidler HiFi @ 251.344.4434 -
It's highly likely that the transport is a Pioneer Stable Platter system.
A very very good transport, btw, but discontinued a while back.
If the platter will not spin, you might check to see if the drive belt
is broken.
And don't forget, put the discs on the platter label side DOWN, if this
is in fact a Pioneer Stable Platter transport.
Good luck. EAD cdps were excellent in their day, but not so much anymore.
According to Thom at Noble (who no longer service them) the transport is a Philips CDV400.
After perusing my notes, at one time Noble in Idaho performed Bolene (sp) modifications to EAD gear.
Thanks! Popsy.
Is that the one with the LD transport.
They used a Pioneer mechanism and that is a very common issue, but I don't know the fix
I now have a very heavy door stop as the folks who use to repair and mod them don't anymore. They do recommend another place but after figuring out the shipping and such on 40lbs plus its probably not worth it :(
What is the name of the other place? Location?
Audio Mart Service Center (913) 648-4443
According to the DAC/transport lists I looked at, the EAD T-7000 is supposed to use a Sony KHS-130A, not the Pioneer Stable Transport. These are still available I think. Maybe I'm missing something...
Thank You!
maybe you could buy a used Pioneer CD/LD player and switch drives?
I now have a very large and heavy door stop :)
Maybe you can try a pioneer service center. I seem to recall.EAD.used an off the shelf transport. Trouble is Pioneer discontinued LD years ago
Good luck
Here is a link to a list of transports for each player. There are many others on the web. I would start looking for a good used.
Dave
Thanks! Dave.
saves a lot of time opening up gear.....
