I'm currently using a Marantz NA7004 to stream music. I do like the unit being it has a nice DAC and it puts out around 2 volts, enough to drive my solid state gear with just a passive. And it sounds great. I think the channels are from vTuner.com.I also use it for my vintage tube gear - and here comes the problem. The volume on several of the stations are vastly different. Making using it sometimes frustrating!
Are there any streaming devices that:
1- have enough output to be used with my solid state amp with a passive
2- have it's own IR volume control
3- can get the vtuner stations
4- use a LAN since wireless is not possible in my house due to it's contruction.
5- I don't have an iPhone - and if I did get one, is there a digital output (to my current Marantz DAC) and volume control? Thanks
charles

Nope, iPhone remote will not help. Not unlike most DACs, which are designed to be routed through a pre-amp/integrated amp.
Still, I really like the sound of the NA-7004, even find the headphone amp/output, which can be a weak spot on some audio gear, to be great sounding driving my Senn HD-600.
If you were an Apple Fan Boy the Airplay feature might help. Dial up your favorite internet radio site on your iDevice and play it on your system using you LAN via Airplay.

The current Oppo players can do all of that except the vtuner stations.
I would get a Refurbed or used Squeezebox touch on E-bay. It will do all you ask for except I don't think it will handle Vtuner. But, I saw a discussion on the Squeezebox forums and most folks preferred Tunein over Vtuner anyway. I am using Tunein.
The Squeezbox Touch also has a Ton more features that when you get used to them, other streamers will just not Do!

That looks pretty nice!
I will try and look into buying a new unit.
again - thanks

Since they are discontinued a New One is going to be really expensive. Even the used ones are selling more than MSRP. This is because no one else has come up with a suitable replacement product. Here is a Manufacturer Refurbished unit with a guarantee for a reasonable price.
BTW - I have 4 of them.
