but I haven't played around enough with USB cables other than various length generic kinds.
I've done a fair amount of optical cable rolling and I find them dynamically challenged compared to a coax connection.

I'm *guessing* I'd probably end up going with that, even without the BNC, without knowing all the source/DAC details. :) But try them all. [My favorite "analog interface" for digital gear was not a choice.]Just with the gear I've owned, lots of DACs/sources though, the optical is always "dynamically challenged" and "softer" (higher end rolloff) compared to coaxial. Lifatec glass cable, even more noticeable with the cheaper plastic ones (which are surprisingly much more similar than dissimilar, compared to the glass, regardless of price).
Edit: to be fair, I can see some people preferring the optical, even myself depending on what shape the source material was in (I'm thinking some remasturd stuff with greatly boosted high ends and no dynamics to speak of anyway).
