In Reply to: RE: Optical or Coaxial or USB to a DAC ?...................... posted by Cut-Throat on July 05, 2014 at 13:57:47
What are you sending from? Transpor, CD player or computer. If from a computer the USB would be the best. If from a transport or CD player the coax would be best. I always have felt that optical rolled off top end and would never use it

How about a Squeezebox Touch? Which is a small Computer? USB? And why USB over Coax?

I use coax to Bryston DAC. I tried the Toslink and thought it sounded a bit dull. Cymbals lost a little sparkle.
I don't believe the USB on the Touch is for output. Think it is only for input device; USB stick, external drive, etc.
On another note, are you using a better power supply than the wall-wart provided with the Touch? If not, that made the biggest improvement. I use the Welborne PS.
Yup, you're probably right on the USB is an input port only. As far as the Power Supply, I use a TeraDac. Link Below

There is an app to implement USB audio on the Touchhttp://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?94512-Announce-Enhanced-Digital-Output-app-USB-Dac-and-192k-Digital-Ouput

I just installed the Enhanced Digital Output App from Triode on my SBT and am now using my USB port as Output Port into my DAC.

If the squeeze has a coax out as well as usb just try both. I use coax from my transport to one dac and use usb from my laptop to another dac. Both sound great. Again optical is the one that I have never liked
