I have a 1994 Audiolab 8000DAC and three transports: a Sony CDP-X55ES CD player, a Sony DVP-S7000 DVD player, and a Yamaha CV-1700 laser disc player. The three transports are linked by inexpensive glass fiber toslink cables. If I upgrade to Lifac SilFlec cables, do you think it will signifigantly improve the performance of the DAC? A it is, the DAC only sounds a little different, and is almost inferior to running the transports as stand-alone players. I also have a Denon Dvd-2200 and a Sony DVP-NS900V. They sound pretty damn good on their own too. I almost think i'd like to sell the Audiolab and buy either a different new modern DAC or maybe a Music Hall 13.5 DAC/CD plarer, so I can have both the Sony players linked to the Music hall's DAC. Anyone have any ideas?
Follow Ups:
how much improvements were made in DACs since 1994. A hell of a lot.
Perhaps an upgrade in the DAC is in order?
and easily sound more musical than todays wunderkind 32 bit processors and give nothing really in terms of resolution.
However, if the audiolb 8000A DAC is not a ladder DAC then an upgrade would be in order.
I figure, what the Schitt?
