Article about noise from batteries for you

Hi,
very interesting test
Nevertheless even if my experience with batteries is very limited i would choose them any time.
I suspect the 220uF capacitor to buffer the battery output was too little.
I would use a very high quality (low ESR) and high capacity (at least 10000uF) capacitor to buffer the output
Then i would like to see the noise spectrum a lot
Thanks again
Kind regards,
bg
I don't believe SLA batteries produce any significant noise. I've been using battery power supplies for 20-years and they have never produced any noise in my system. But, if you want to discount them, that's your prerogative. As for me, I have had only exceptional results with all my battery power supplies. However, that's not to say that all AC power supplies can be improved with batteries. On the other hand, I've never found an AC power supply that sounded better than a battery. That's just my experience, though. YMMV
Best regards,
John Elison
This is not about discounting batteries or about denying your personal experience.
It is simply about how things work.
When I first heard about battery powered audio gear not for the sake of portability but for the sake of sound quality, I was impressed.
That is a good idea, no pollution form the mains, no rectifiers, just pure DC.
Later, and much to my surprise I learned that this source of pure DC makes some noise too.
I didn’t expected it.
In the Ogier article, the noise levels are quite high, probably due to the experimental setup.
In a more recent article, the noise level is much lower but simply not what I as a typical armchair engineer expected: no noise.
