It's really puzzling that this product gets touted as having high price/performance ratio. Mostly by clueless (about good sound) "pro" crowd, but still...
I had it for couple of weeks, long time ago, before promptly returning. My conclusion was;
- it is not a good sounding device in absolute measures;
- it compared unfavorably with two other DACs I had on hand at the time - PS Audio DLIII and Apogee MiniDAC;
- it's price/performance ratio is actually pretty poor.
Follow Ups:
I tried their newer HDR Pre model and didn't care for it. Too thin and squeaky. Perhaps this is ideal for monitoring recordings.
But it's not just the pro crowd that likes it. It's gotten a lot of praise from Stereophile.
