an increasing proportion of our subscribers has switched to digital. This
is due in part, I believe, to the fact that the reproduction of blacks
and whites has better contrast on-screen than on paper and, of course,
there is no show-through from what is printed on the other side of the
paper. Printed URLs also become "live.">posted it HERE, because it seems to be mostly the "Stereophile bashing"

readers. Which leads to more criticism. :-(

I suspect the main reason the editors of "other publications" stay away from here because they know they would be exposed as the frauds and charlatans they are.
The other reason is purely greed. If they engaged in dialog here, there would be less traffic on their own websites - hence less advertising revenue.
Thank you for your participation here. It is most welcome on many levels.
When I first started writing for TAS, I was sent a writer's agreement to sign which included stipulations regarding posting on the internet. While I no longer recall the exact wording, I was basically discouraged from discussing any of HP's shenanigans online.
When Robert Harley took over a year or so later, things changed dramatically for the better, and the agreement I had signed was never mentioned again. Harley did encourage his writers to participate on the TAS forum, but never discouraged any of us from posting elsewhere.
Always good to see a friendly face around here, Charles.
Sue
Hi Sue,
I did't recognize your new moniker, my apologies - I've simply been too busy with lift to spend much time here.
It is very encouraging to hear that TAS has no explicit policy against their writers not posting on other websites, although that has not been my experience.
Welcome to The Audio Beat. Ayre has been supporting TAB since their creation. Oddly enough I don't recall seeing your byline. Always good to hear your voice, whether here or TAB. Hope all is well with you and your loved ones.
Charley Hansen
Hi Charles,I got off to a slow stat at TAB due to losing several family members last year (mom & sis) but still managed to get my name on a review of the B&W CM10 speakers (link below) Hopefully 2016 will be a better year as there are a number of things in the works that should prove interesting.
Every time one window closes, another door opens - or something like that :-)
Wishing you the best,
Sue

Ohhh Yes , for sure John can take a punch , maybe as good as Conor .. BTW never heard of TAB before Sue and I'm sure if JA ever incorporates the mighty power cube test on SS amplifiers at SP , Charlie would be very grateful .. :)
Well off to see what the fuss is all about on this CM10 thingy ...

No person or company was mentioned in Charles Hansen's post.
The set of all editors of "other publications" who stay away from here.
Stop spinning. When did he say "all" editors of "other publications"? Now you're putting words into his mouth.
'the editors of "other publications"'? [other than Stereophile]
I'm assuming the universe was the set of all audio magazines. You don't think he meant all of them? Is there anything in the text to support your position?
Thanks,
Daniel
It does not matter what I think. The fact is, he never mentioned any person or company and thus broke no rules. That is all that matters.
On the other hand, the rules say "No defamatory statements," which you are repeatedly doing here about a specific person. You are committing defamation of a person's character. I suggest you follow the rules yourself.
My own view is that they would be showing complete disregard for AA rules if they allowed Charles' comment to stand.
Best regards,
Daniel
They apparently already have decided.
You are the only one who broke the rules. Consider yourself fortunate that you are still permitted to post after impugning another member's character.
I'm simply suggesting that the statement
"...the main reason the editors of "other publications" [other than Stereophile] stay away from here because they know they would be exposed as the frauds and charlatans they are"
is not in the best keeping of civil discourse as outlined in the Audio Asylum posting rules ('be civil or be gone.')
Best regards,
Daniel
I won't waste any additional keyboard strokes...

Many people believe that this is all a zero-sum game: that a gain here
means a loss at home. But that just isn't true.

You're welcome, Charley. And now back to wondering whether digital filters
sound better when they are shorter, or when they are longer :-)

John, consider the criticism to be out of love, out of compassion - (for magazine) to be better!
Regards!
Although I enjoy going through the print magazine more, I personally have a digital subscription because its more ecological and I do not like owning stuff like piles of magazines. I get only Stereophile because of the equipment measurements. Thanks.

.
Could the be dependent upon the source of your subscription?
My prior subscription provider for Stereophile was excellent about sending my physical copies, and always sent me an email reminder when the digital copy was ready. At some point, they apparently lost their rights to offer Stereophile, and my subscription was cut short for the physical mag - though I still had access to the digital copy during a brief gap in subscriptions.
Oddly? That previous provider still sends me links to digital versions of other magazines I had subscriptions to, and have not re-subscribed.
p.s.: I must certainly hope to continue my physical subscription to Stereophile. I'll bitch & moan about pricing sometimes, and may let it lapse now and again searching for the best deal - but I'll keep reading.

wonder how they were able to bundle the digital magazine with the print
edition. Was it the Apple or Zinio version? (These are the only authorized
Stereophile digital editions.) Or was it in plain pdf format? If the latter,
then that would have been a pirated version.> I must certainly hope to continue my physical subscription to

My digital access was via the Zinio version.

Thanks. I guess the third-party distributor must have done a deal with
Zinio.

Just logged in to the email account I use for things I don't much want to be "spammed" by.
I have 82 messages from zinio@discover.zinio.com either asking me to renew, or saying I haven't recently logged in to digital magazines.
Many are/were for magazines I've never looked at or had interest in.
So... I'd say - Stereophile and/or many other mags are probably having their digital subs sold out without their knowledge.
Stereophile is also available through an app called Readly. It costs about 10.00 a month and features over 1000 titles including many classical music publications, particularly from the U.K.
I've subscribed to the print edition of Stereophile since the early 80's and will continue to do so but sometimes, it is nice to have a digital edition available.

I am intrigued by this service. I have looked at the site, and found several publications that I may be interested in. I have asked my family to do the same.
If I subscribe from the US, can I access magazines from around the world, or am I limited to the US ?
I understand the site is formated for ipad/kindle/mobile devices. How do magazines render on a laptop or desktop monitor ?
Thanks !
Hello,
I live in the U.S. as well and have full access to all the magazines no matter their origin. There is at least one German high end publication available.
I use Readly on my Kindle Fire and have no experience on a desktop, unfortunately. It really is a great bargain.
