Has anyone actually received a copy after ordering, here? If so, how long does it take? Down in the small print of the confirmation letter (but not their order form) it says:
"Please allow 4-6 weeks for your order to process before contacting Magazine Customer Service."

Shame? This is pretty much the norm in print magazine publishing.
Subscriptions are handled by a specialist company. Once a month, that
company sends an updated list of subscriber names and addresses to the
printer, who prints each name and address in the white box on the cover,
then puts the magazines in the mail.
For a new subscriber's information to be included in the list sent to
the printer can take a couple of weeks at minimum but if it just misses
the printer deadline, will take another month, hence the "4-6 weeks"
warning that you were given.

I'll wait a few months.

Might be as little as 2 weeks to receive your first issue if the
subscription service company processed your order in time to make it to
the printer's next run. Otherwise, it will start 4 weeks after that with
the next issue. Please let me know when you receive that first issue.

Very quickly.
Excellent. Thanks for letting me know, Frihed.

When did you order?4- 6 weeks is pretty normal for the gap between an order and delivery of the first copy of a subscription magazine. You have to wait unti the next issue is released. The period of 4 weeks is the maximum duration of the current isssue's duration for which the subscription copies have already been distributed. The copies are not sent out one by one but all together or in batches. In fact international copies like ours are sent to a local distributor in our respective countries who then send the issue to our address (unless you are the sole Danish subscriber - I don't know how the process works then). This process of shipping is allowed for by adding a further two weeks. So 4-6 weeks is arrived at as the estimate.
The latest issue turned up in my letter box in the UK on last Wednesday so I would guesss that new subscribers for that ordered in mid August at the latest.
If time is really of essence to you then I suggest that you also order the electronic version from Zinio (I do). It is cheap (just over 6 gbp for 12 isssues including VAT) and is a fall back if the odd hard copy goes missing in the international distribution.

It's rubbish. I have cancelled all digital subscriptions and gone back to print.
Stereophile would not recognise my long held 'foreign' address and so I read it at airport shps and subscribe to HiFiNews only.
Never a problem with UK magazines. Have had it with 'normal' US fulfilment houses
FMak, you'd complain if they hung you with a new rope.

Hi Fmak, John Atkinson said that Stereophile subscriptions are handled by a specialist. What do they specialize in, ineptness. I don't know if this is an old rule of thumb,it was on Leave it to Beaver or the Donna Reed Show but when the paper boy did not deliver they got a new paper boy. Once again, it's not rocket science....Mark Korda
