I don't have the issue with the renewals, but they are asking me to pay as if I already had agreed to renew, which I have not.
That's the sneaky part.

Follow Ups:
I just found my oldest "renewal" email from them and they are thanking me for my dubscription and show I have a balance due of $34.97 or so.
It appears that they slready have renewed me w/o my input and are charging me.
I will be contacting them shortly and letting them know I do not wish to renew and to cease sending me notices.

OK, I've got it all solved now...
It appears that Stereophile is a publication of TEN-The Enthusiast Network ans that group uses a tactic known as "negative option" for their Preferred Automatic Renewal Program.
It's just like the record club dodge where you get sent the record unless you opt out every month. Here you get renewed and billed automatically unless you call them like I just did and tell them to discontinue your subscription.
It would appear that Stereophile per se had little to do with this implementation and it was a corporate decision at a higher level.
So if you wonder why you've been renewed w/o your approval to Stereophile, Sound and Vision, Hot Rod, Motor Trend, Baseball America or any other TEN magazine, it's because the guys in the corner offices know they can make more money this way.

Well, despite my phone call, I received another renewal/overdue notice.
I did my part with the call, so they can bill me until they're blue in the face, but they aren't getting paid.
