The speculation whether a clay pot has sound analogs embedded in its surface should have been dealt with in 24 words, not 20 minutes.
They also neglected to note that A.G. Bell's parents were both deaf, which was a major motivation for his research and inventions.

. . . apparently had large amphorae filled with water placed at points along the aisles between the seats. These would resonate with the sound of the actors' voices and help "amplify" it for those sitting further back from the stage.
The actors' oversize masks also had short megaphones / wave guides built in to help them project their voices louder.
