Let's think about this, Rick. Now obviously you didn't, but let's think about this.
You bring into question my character with potential ethics violations. Then you (having no experience with what I have or haven’t achieved) assert repeated nonsensical and derogatory statements trying to bring into question whether or not my claims are legit by implying I don't know what I'm talking about. And when I defend my accomplishments you try to spin my defense as patting myself on the back, self-aggrandizing, and I’m full of myself? From your ignorant perspective, I can see where you’re coming from, but ignorance is still a choice.
Believe me. In an industry where perhaps 50% still deny that electronic burn-in exists, maybe 98% still believe “the room” is the most important component, and 99.9% spend their entire lives trying to defy laws of physics, along with all the other folklore, you have no idea how conservative I try to be when typing in forums.
And now you'd rather listen to music than discuss this, eh? Yeah, right. Tell me about the quality of the music you listen to. That's why you're here, right? That's supposedly why we're all here, right? Not to just listen to music but hopefully attain an improved quality of the musicality that might have somewhat the resemblance of the original performance. Of course, I’m sure you’d agree with Robert Harley, Jonathan Valin, and some other notables claims that even the industry’s very best SOTA playback system’s performance levels are but a remnant of the live performance. Harley even used the word catastrophic. Is this the level of music you’d rather get back to hearing?
Let's be intellectually honest here. You know as well as I do that even a chimpanzee can listen to music on a $5 transistor radio and probably get some pleasure. Yet, a chimpanzee cannot invest thousands or hundreds of thousands of their hard-earned dollars into a playback system that should provide them a reasonable return on that investment. Nor am I aware that a chimpanzee can discern or at least articulate the quality of the music they hear. Yet, if you purchased a new $400k Ferrari that only performed like a $25k Chevy Impala, would you not hightail it back to the dealer and demand a refund? Are you so ignorant that you think this isn't happening in high-end audio? Do you cringe like I do at all the outlandish hype in the magazines? Where's your cry for potential ethics violations here?
How about the original poster of this thread where in his ignorance mocks the Redbook format "Perfect Sound Forever" and Class D amps as inferior technologies while praising whatever it is he owns, giving clear indication he knew not what he speaketh and I felt obliged to correct him? Look how this industry has destroyed the Redbook format’s reputation as inferior while smugly praising higher-rez formats, when they themselves even with hi-rez are only hearing at best the equivalent of an MP3 recording? (Remember, Harley used the word catastrophic.) How about when an ignorant comment about Class D technology is made and the audience believes it? How much potential financial harm is induced on those Class D mfg’ers who make viable and competitive products because of people’s ignorant words in public forums? Who was in potential ethics violations here? The one who spoke unintelligently to an audience, the unintelligent audience (like you) that condoned his words, or the one who corrected him? Where's your cry for potential ethics violations here? Or would you consider me more ethical if I remained silent just so you and others like you can live out the remainder of your days spending your hard earned money in ignorant and catastrophic bliss?
Tell you what, Rick. Now I've never heard your playback system but tell me about the quality of music you hear on your playback system and then I'll take a shot at describing the quality of music I think you're hearing. Or I'll even go first if you prefer. Then we'll compare notes as to who is more accurate, who’s self-aggrandizing and applying industry hype, and who’s really living in a dream state.
Better yet, since you and Mr. Batch68 are so concerned about my potential ethics violations, why don't you two petition AA to start a new category entitled, "Industry Ethics". You guys can even start with me if you want. I'll bet dollars to donuts within weeks, the level of participation in that new category would dwarf perhaps every other category here on AA.
Otherwise, why not stop with the spin and the pretentious and pious attitude?

Mr. Stehno,
I see you've referenced me in your last post. I also see from your earlier response that you noted the first link I posted, but did not address the second one. Unlike your industry news post, the 2nd one was in the tweaker's forum and dated December 9, 2011 (it also included a web link in the actual post) -- that's just a hair over exactly three years ago, which I would certainly put within your classification of "past few years." The larger point is that you were, in fact, breaking the rules by promoting your goods without declaring to be a manufacturer.
You say you that you are no longer breaking the rules & I'm happy to take you at your word on that one. You have to understand that many of us feel very protective of AA b/c it is the only audio forum worth a damn. Based on this thread & the link it appeared you were breaking the rules on manufacturers and then when I saw you actually were breaking the rules in the past it got my hackles up. If you felt attacked by that I apologize. I'll shut up now and listen to your ideas about racks.

Thanks for your respectful note, Mr Batch68.I've been a member of AA for perhaps 15 years and I have no problem abiding by others rules and ethics (so long as they don't conflict with my own). Going from enthusiast to product launch and back again, well, there's no 1-stop shop set of procedures to properly put up my tent nor tear it down. In other words I was and am ignorant about some of this stuff. But since ignorance is a choice, I'm ultimately to blame and I apologize for that.
I'm certainly well aware there are many who look for every opportunity to cleverly and even not-so-clevely plug their own gear. When discussing performance in these forums , I usually try to limit my topic of discussion here and elsewhere to proper line conditioning and proper AC mgmt for at least the following reasons.
1) To avoid the appearance of shilling. Even though it seems everybody is shilling something, whether it be product, concepts, IQ's, bling bling, charisma, etc.
2) Even though proper AC mgmt can be a very substantial performance gain when properly executed, it still pales in comparison to proper (extreme) vibration mgmt. (no plug intended). But since most audiences seem unable to put their arms around even the very basics of the lesser proper AC mgmt, there's no reason for me to even mention the greater proper vibration mgmt. (I've already banged my head against that wall so many times, it started to feel good).
Of course, then I meander over to the Tweaks category where I hear some downright outlandish statements about vibration control, electrical vs. mechanical break-ins, etc. and well, it becomes a real struggle sometimes.
And no I won't be sharing ideas about my racks. But I'm always happy to to discuss concepts, logic, common sense, laws of physics, and especially performance with reasonable enthusiasts who seem genuinely interested in extracting greater levels of musicality from their systems.
Anyway, thanks for your note and I better appreciate where you're coming from.
BTW, does this mean you're not going to petition AA to start a new category entitled, "Industry Ethic"? I was kinda' looking forward to that one. I can think of a few unrelated threads I'd probably want to start. :)
