I stopped subscribing to them many years ago, based simply on two things- reviews of high priced gear that most mortals cannot afford, and using my own ears to make buying/building decisions.
Not a flame or a slap at anyone- just curious and an opinion!

Same here. But for me, audio mags are still relevant for their coverage of major advances in technology. I love my LPs, but imo high rez streaming/download services and portable players are today's big news items. Massive $40,000 speakers, not so much. ;)
I have a "starter" collection of high rez stuff (Downloaded or from my past bands), mostly in software. I do have a fairly healthy DVD-A collection too (I do consider DVD-A to be high rez when compared to CD) and can play with them with either my DVD-A player or Foobar.
I can do without the $40k speakers too. Mine (DIY) do just fine!
Cheers,
