.......nothing but filler, disguised as important copy to make some readers (who perhaps aren't familiar with this tired old shtick) believe that they're really getting some interesting reading.
Cheaper to sandwich this regurgitated copy between the magazine covers than to actually pay an author for a new article. ST and KR's absence in this issue is duly noted.
This is strictly my opinion and nothing more. Also, I must compliment JA and his staff for putting out this issue which, other than the 500 components thing, is pretty darned good :-)
Cheers,
Al
Follow Ups:
My esteemed colleague Kal Rubinson and I alternate, month by month.
So, this month you got JM delving into the world of building classical guitars and playing classical guitars--and the Devid Leisner recital CD that includes both Britten's "Nocturnal" and Leisner's deeply-felt Bach Chaconne in d transcription is on my short list when R2D4s come around again.
Which means NEXT month, Kal will be in that part of the magazine.
ST's absence I have no idea about.
Perhaps his pet ferret Yevgeny crawled up his pant leg, to no good effect... .
(That was a joke, and a reference to ST's having been tripped by his cat, who in catlike fashion is probably grinning as he lovingly relives the experience.)

Have you been working on any new organ or violin recordings yourself? Maybe we will be reading about them soon.

Nice! JM- I look forward to reading your segment.
The ferret joke was a good one!

"Ilya" was not quite it.
