are adults. If someone like Mr. Hall uses the word "fuck," I will publish
it rather than coyly substituting "f**k" or "f__k" to conform to some
sort of political correctness.>Since no other manufacturer has used such language in the many years I

in Stereophile the courtesy of not having their thoughts and opinions
altered. Yes, we edit to correct syntax, grammar and punctuation, etc,
but only so that those thoughts and opinions are expressed more clearly.

In my line of work, I frequently give presentations to an audience and am later supplied with evaluation cards as to how I performed. I know that I hit the mark when I get a roughly equal mix of "too much" or "too little" content, depth, etc. You'll never satisfy everyone. Had you edited Roy's comments, others would have criticized you for suppressing a manufacturer's seeming displeasure with a review.
I confess that I let my paper subscription of SF lapse, but absolutely couldn't resist the offer presented to me for the Xinio version. I realize that you have no control over Xinio operation over an iPad, but there's one bug that drives me nuts. Scrolling from page to page is easy and I usually pinch the screen for magnification and drag it around a bit to read the full page. So far, so good.
Sometimes, however, I'll pinch the screen for zoom and when I let go - I get magically transported several pages past where I was! Swipe, swipe, swipe, swipe back to my place, pinch. Let go, veddy carefully and maybe I won't find myself instantly in foreign territory.
Keep up the great work on the best mag currently in the biz. I was particularly interested in the SP-20 review as I'm ready to pull the trigger on moving my SP-9 MKIII to the garage system and getting something better for the main.
well Ralph, i have a living room that your sp9 would be more comfortable in. but my sp3a1(c) would be hard to supplant.

While the 9 is arguably better sounding in certain respects, especially for use with a medium output MC cartridge, I'm pretty sure the resale value of an SP-3a is higher.
That is truly one of the classic preamps of all time. Period.
The SP-20 appeals to me for similar reasons to the SP-9 - single chassis packaging, support for MC cartridges both in gain and loading and I suspect, great sound.
intrigued by the sp20. now the money question, does it have mono and balance controls?

along with phase and front touch panel or remote selectable phono loading. Tube hour counter. Configurable shutdown. Way cool.
SP-20 Manual
not that bad of a price for what you get.

As a non-audiophile, he was a bit surprised when he asked about the price, but I showed him the REF 10 / REF 10 Phono pair that runs a cool $60k. :)
sometimes we have to be happy that some things exist.

I'd rather buy the trickle-down technology version than the "statement" product. :)
