That is the job description of a magazine editor. :-)

I look at JA as an expert portfolio manager of content. Thank you John, for your past and future years as the leading editor/portfolio manager in the industry. Kal has his place... Marks has his place, Sam/Tom has his... you get the picture. John manages this portfolio of talent extraordinarily well.
In addition to those skills, JA IS the talent.

Thank you Peter. Every writer I publish in Stereophile has a
loyal following but none will appeal to _every_ reader, of course.

I am a loyal follower of 7 of them. Sad one of them wont be in the gang there any more.

Music in the Round is the first column I turn to when Stereophile arrives. Correctly recorded, mch can add a sense of ambience. I detect a bit of the tube/solid state-analog/digital divide in this thread, with KR not being sufficiently a tube/analog guy. I appreciate KR's willingness to contribute posts, but agree he can be terse and less than clear.

Magazine editors should not change just because of public pressure. People can disagree all they want but I would still rather a magazine editor stick to his principles. I am sure that John has methods of determining which content is more popular with readers and with which demographic likes which sections most.
