...I don't care for Dudley, Fremer or Rubinson's stuff because I have no interest in most of the equipment they write about.
At most I peruse their columns.
But this eclectic mix of personalities and interests is what this hobby is all about.
And what makes Stereophile best at what it does.
As to Rubinson's attitude at times, he is an accomplished scientist in his field and I suspect he doesn't suffer idiots very well.

Or having a clue about what influences sound quality in computer audio, for that matter?
There are some posters on HydrogenAudio who are EEs by trade, like Mr. Krueger or Mr. Johnson, for instance - do you normally care for their opinions?
Better if it was called Methane Audio, since Circle Jerk is kinda taken. I don't care about anybody's opinion unless they have proven expertise in the field, but I do care about peoples' facts. Remember facts? Not a lot to be found these days. This forum is no place for mch sound, as anybody who has the smallest clue about it already knows. Kal knows, he is more correct on mch stuff than most people here could possibly comprehend, as evidenced by their demonstrated lack of knowledge and ridiculous pronouncements when they tiptoe in. I come here for 2ch stuff myself. The A/V and HT forums are useless for that. Some people embrace both, some are totally ignorant re one or the other. You don't have to admit it, people can tell when you are.
" I don't care about anybody's opinion unless they have proven expertise in the field, but I do care about peoples' facts."
What are these "facts" that people have? How do you know that statements you read are "facts"? How do you tell that someone has "proven expertise"?

...from what I read, he hears differences between amps but finds the differences small compared to differences in other equipment.
I don't pretend to know much about computer audio so I have no opinion on what he thinks.
And while he may be a little harsh in internet discussions, the others you mention are total asses.
but I had a humorous and dogmatic exchange with him about HDMI cabling. For some reason, his series of posts suggests that he believes other audio connectors require the same compromises. Naturally, no examples were given to back the veracity of that claim. Ever have an RCA or XLR plug that created a switching delay or required a firmware upgrade?
The Devil's Invention
Ironically, he referred to HDMI as being "the invention of the devil" in one of his columns - to which I heartily agree.
