Strange email exchange over the weekend with a highly placed person with a well known, mainstrean A/V gear manufacturer. It started off well enough but devolved into him telling me I don't know anything about quality built gear or good sound. Seems that as long as I said good things about his company and their gear that my input was appreciated but anything negative would not be tolerated. Now I know why they isolate focus groups from the company asking the questions.

like I said it started out innocently enough and actually I was quite surprised to get an email from this person concerning a trivial inquiry about a new piece of gear. I inquired further about the price and told this person I wanted to post the info on AVS Forum. He provided the info, I posted. He read my post and then read another where I was not kind to an unrelated piece of gear from same company and then he went a little ballistic. Considering this person is in sales and marketing, he might want to take a short course on winning friends and influencing enemies. I must have struck a nerve.

Sometimes the hyperbole gets to be a bit much; but every great artist is going to claim that she's the only one who's doing it right.
