Is Onkyo still working with BAT on its Integra line? I'm specifically interested in BAT's role (if any) in the design of the Integra DTC-9.8 pre/pro.

The 7 channel amplifier was designed with BAT.
The preamp in question is NOT an "Integra Research" piece. It is from the standard Integra line.
In the "Integra Research" line, the preamp had some contributions from other companies, like Apogee, but not BAT.
The preamp you're curious about is definetly a nice piece, regardless of who designed it. According to some, it runs a little hot, but then I'll bet that has to do with lack of ventillation as well as what is connected to it.
If you have this preamp performing video processing, it will most likely run much hotter. Case in point; check out HD Cable boxes from Motorolla or Scientific Atlanta. They run hotter than most amplifiers.
He makes himself pretty available, in my experience.
