A.) What is his setup, source and amp, SS or tube, speakers?
B.) What was the litz cable?
C.) What was he listening to for the AB testing?
D.) Cable lengths...?

The Home Depot cable is make of what? What isulation, copper quality?

Home depot sells Cat5 cable - which is universaly regarded as making excellent speaker cable, better than store speaker cables.
