Will be taking a BluRay player RCA-out to RCA-in of a Headphone Amp. I want to minimize RFI and from reading here, it looks like MOGAMI 2534 is a solid contender. This is a quad configuration with copper shield. How is the shield connected for maximum noise rejection. Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks

That's a very long cable run for unbalanced connections. There is no way to avoid some signal degradation at that length. Your ideal solution would be to use balanced cable (ie 3-pin XLR to 3-pin XLR) and either transformer-based adapters (RCA-XLR each end) or perhaps a DIY active adapter (using THAT (brand) ICs). Jensen Transformer makes products specifically designed for this application as well (ISO-Max), about $150.
You can go ahead, use the Mogami Star-Quad cable, two runs of 25 feet, and although a quality RCA is called for there is no point in going overboard there as you won't get the benefit over that long a run anyway. Canare -09 or -10 RCAs should be fine (about $5 each). From there you can explore and plan for one of the other options using balanced cable in the future.
Or find some way to reduce the distance to less than 10 feet. You might even consider buying a second disk player if moving yours isn't an option.
the cable will be used between the BluRay player and the headphone amp. The only reason is because the amp has no remote volume control. The intent is to use keep the Amp close to the listening chair for volume control.
So, this is a 25 long RCA connectors cable. The link I referenced may have been misleading.
You should use a stereo pair of rca interconnect cables, just like any other audio component rather than use one cable for both stereo channels like a headphone cable. Inter-channel crosstalk will affect the soundstage and imaging in a profound manner if you run both line-level channels within one cable.
Are you building cables for use between the BluRay player rca outputs to the rca inputs of the headphone amp, or a headphone cable for headphones connected to the output jack of the headphone amp?
Hi Duster
what do you thing of Mogami for a run of RCA cables. From a bulk perspective, does Mogami 2528 work well, or can you suggest another wire. the concern is the 25 ft.
Thanks
For an affordable 25 foot stereo pair of rca interconnect cables, Mogami 2534 is a reasonable option when terminated with audiophile-quality rca connectors. I suggest you determine a target price point that you are comfortable with.
At your desired price point of under $100 for a 25 foot stereo pair of DIY rca interconnect cables, I suggest 50 feet of Mogami W2549 priced at $38.50 (77 cents per foot) from Performance Audio, and KLE Copper Harmony rca connectors priced at $39.99 per set of 4 from VH Audio.
Mogami W2549 features a served copper shielded 22 AWG twisted pair for low-noise and low-resistance, and it's of lower capacitance than a 4-conductor star quad cable for a long run of unbalanced single ended line-level cables.
The KLE Copper Harmony rca connector is a moderately priced, low-mass silver plated copper rca connector that is easy to terminate just about any cable with, and should provide good synergy with the inexpensive Mogami W2549.
Remember to solder the copper shield (along with the return conductor) only at the source end of each cable.
