Hello,I have been using Kimber Kable 8TC speaker cables (blue/black) for awhile and rather like them.
I have an opportunity to pick up a used pair of MIT Terminator 2 cables at a reasonable price, and am wondering if anyone familiar with both of these cables might comment on the differences, if any, between them? Both would be used in a bi-wire configuration on B&W Matrix 801 II speakers with ARC tube or Pass ss power amps.
I am finding, on high-pitched vocals and orchestral strings, a bit of "glare," for want of a better term, with the Kimbers. While I love the clarity they provide otherwise, I am particularly interested in whether the MITs might round out or soften this slightly aggressive quality.
I have tried Audioquest Rocket cables, but found them too rounded and almost muffled-sounding.
Thanks,
George

Thanks! for sharing- George
Presuming you are talking about T2 with gray ribbed boxes (not the older white or light gray with smooth rounded boxes), they should be better match. I never liked Kimber TC series due to a "glare" , brightness you described. In combination with B&W brightness...
T2 should give you fuller bass and smoother mids and tops, but not dull or like AQ.
Other that I have experience and that could fit the bill would be Straightwire Maestro. It is very balanced, smooth yet detailed and spacious.

The MIT Terminator 2 is a very good match for the B&W Matrix 805, so it should do well with your B&W Matrix 801 II. The treble is particularly clean and resolving, so it should be a fine choice for use with the high-pass crossover binding posts. However, I can't comment on how it would perform with Kimber 8TC placed on the low-posts from a synergy perspective.
How about that "glare" issue?
I wasn't planning to use MITs in combination with Kimbers, unless I misunderstood you. I would use only the Kimbers or only the MITs.
Thanks for you response!

Keep me posted- George.
If you mean a bi-wire set of MIT Terminator 2 speaker cables, go for it.
I went from Kimber, to MIT, to Audioquest. In my opinion the MIT's work great with solid state but not at all with tubes. The AQ's I have are CastleRock and they are a big jump ahead. With the speakers and electronics you are using CastleRocks would be cost appropriate.

I have can use all-solid state electronics, or all-tube electronics for comparisons.
Thanks for your reply.
