If I were to make a new set of these, I would not use Heatshrink...The set screws are pressing on the rubber grommets on the KLEI Absolute®Harmony RCA connectors and not directly touching the V-Twist cable... Very little pressure is needed on the set screws...

Two related questions. 1) Was there a downside to the heat shrink tubing? 2) Did you try using Teleflex or some other covering?
I was worried about someone inexperienced using Heatshrink and using too much heat and possibly damaging the V-Twist Cable...
That was my logic behind Not Recommending Heatshrink...
Teleflex, please, no!!! It is a perfect design, please Do Not put a cover over it!!!
If Chris VenHaus thought it sounded better with a cover, he would have sold it that way...
Chris VenHaus actually covers his prebuilt V-Twist interconnect cables with Techflex Clean Cut sleeving.
What you could do is experiment with a very snug fitting piece of Heatshrink and Do Not use Heat... Just do a Dry Run before doing the Soldering...
Fit all the parts together and see if the tail end with the rubber grommet of the Absolute®Harmony RCA Plug is Snug or loose...All you really need is a very small amount of Strain Relief...
I used one of these kits...
