I need some speaker cable and i used to swear by the Home Depot "monster" style cable but they don't carry it anymore.
I'm kind of a cheapskate for speaker cable and to be frank, if i had the time I would probably build a set of cat5/6 DIY cables, but I have no time to do that. So I'm stuck buying pre-made...
What's the best cheap stuff?

I bought a 50' roll of USA-made 10awg power cord cable off E-bay.....CHEAP.

I just bought some SUPRA Classic 6.0 9awg on ebay.
Haven't hooked it up yet, so cant personally comment yet.
10AWG solderable magnet wire off of ebay. Poor man's anti-cable. IMO, YMMV

AudioQuest FLX-16/4 bulk length speaker cable wired cross-connected (star quad geometry) is another inexpensive option to consider.
See link:
Great information and some so cheap that a shoot-out might be able to happen once I get this freaking flip house done and sold.
I'm using 20ft runs in my bedroom system.
I got it from a guy who was selling here, in the sales section.
$. 99 a ft at Audio Advisor.
I'm currently using the Level 2 AntiCable speaker wire. The antithesis of mega-buck cables , it's just high purity 12 gauge copper with enamel insulation and a slight twist. An 8' pair will set you back a whopping $100. I honestly have nothing to compare it to though, as my new listening room required a ridiculous length to the far speaker, and the pricier stuff was just out of the question. I haven't had any complaints though -- music still comes out of both speakers. :)
I went a cheaper and thinner with my MG3.7i. I had the original Anti-cable for the MGIIIa but needed longer runs when I upgraded. I bought a 1/2# spool (63') of 16AWG magnet wire from Remington Industries for $10.50 plus shipping and made a pair of 12' cables - unterminated. I have a 1/4 roll left over. I clean the bare ends with DeOxit about every 3-4 months. I prefer the 16 AWG to the 12.
Mogami 3103... Not sure of prices but certainly cheaper than many. Prices here in Oz are somewhat inflated...
Mogami 3082 (Coax Speaker cable) is also good and I believe it is even cheaper.
Cheers

For my son's system we decided to go with DH Labs silver coated copper 14 awg wire twisted in a tight helix.
Basically, we took two 8 foot pieces (one red, the other black) per side, clamped them together in a bench vise on one end while the other end was tightened in the chuck of a cordless drill. Next, run the drill until the pair are twisted very tightly. Make sure that the left and right pair are twisted equally - If they are the same length, then they will be twisted equally.
I can't remember the exact price off the top of my head, but I want to say the DH Labs wire is about $2 per foot for a total of $64 - Four 8 foot pieces.
Hell, we even cooked them before putting them into his system. Wire male and female extension cord ends on them, and then run a quartz halogen light for a day. If you have ever felt the heat coming off of a quartz halogen light, then you know how much current was run through those speaker cables compared to what a amp would do.
I don't know if they are a cut above or not, but they sound pretty damm good.

Looks similar to the ready made Belden 9497 speaker cable (see above). 16 ga. 19 x 29 twisted tin coated copper stranded cable with PVC insulation. Reputed to be a low cost favorite in Japan and used as internal wiring in Shindo loudspeakers.
Haven't heard it myself, but I've seen listings for it on Ebay in lengths typical for connecting to speakers.
Vintage Western Electric 16 ga. tinned copper cable (see below) is also a favorite amongst some, but currently difficult to find.
Looks very nice and simple. Even with no time I could cobble a pair of those up
That's the military number for some of the best wire you can find this side of sanity.
Steve Deckert (Decware) builds some really, really nice sounding amps swears by this stuff. When he was trying out various speaker wire hooked directly to the output transformer(s) that did NOT color the sound in any noticeable way, this is what he found to be the very best.
As you can see in the link, he even noted the military number (shaded in yellow) on the page. By the way they sell for $450 a pair, but if you were slightly ambitious, you could knock up a pair for way under $100.
As with sex; The best connection is a bare connection - bare wire always sounds best.
Good luck.

Thanks! It's not cheap at 135 bucks for 30 feet, but since like you, I also believe that making love with a condom on is like washing your feet while wearing socks, I won't have to spend any money on connectors....
I think that might work!
I've been happy with my Canare 411 star-quad stuff. I DIY'd mine but RAME Electronics will build them to suit.
