What would be the benefit of using a quality power cord with an active subwoofer?

The benefit of a high-performance power cord, especially a large gauge power cord intended for high current power amplifiers should provide the same betterment of the subwoofer bottom end as it should for the main loudspeakers power amplifier(s). In my case, the outboard Bryston power amplifier I use for a customized stereo subwoofer rig is located 10 feet away from an Oyaide R1 Beryllium AC outlet installed at the wall, so I opted to build a large gauge DIY VH Audio Flavor 4 power cord (9 AWG aggregate gauge, self-shielding star quad design) for the benefit of high current demand, and the lack of braided or foil shielding for unrestricted dynamics, and terminated the power cord with Oyaide 004 Beryllium AC connectors based on how well the 004 presents the bass characteristics of the subwoofer system, and of course how well the 004 Beryllium AC connectors mate with the same product line R1 Beryllium AC outlet installed at the wall.
Duster, are you still using the Flavor 4 PC for your subs ? 9AWG is heavy but subwoofers are also heavy and are usually placed in the best sounding location and left there.

Thanks guys. I was hoping to read something about the music being more focused, in time? I run two B&W subs (in stereo) next to the mains. A sort of tri-amped set-up. I found the bass was very sensitive to adjustment, it became bloated rather quickly when the volume was too high (very small adjustment, maybe 3'). The cords are captive (same AWG as the kettle)so I've made myself cords based on VH Flavor #3 using 14AWG rather than 12AWG. I'm a believer in keeping everything uniform - Same plugs (Cu), same solder (WBT), same gge (14AWG) feeding components with the exception of speaker wire (8AWG Cu) and IC's (24 AWG solid Ag). I also think discarding as much brass along the signal and electron path is a good thing.
Better and fuller bass. Apex JR. has 10 and 8 AWG silver plated wire that makes good, inexpensive power cord. Tweaker
It did nothing for my sub.....the amps in these things are so efficient (inexpensive class D usually) they need very little power requirement.
There are a few power cords made for class D amps. Those are probably the ones to audition for subwoofers with class D amps.

My experience has been that class D amps are very sensitive to PCs.
Jack
It sounds like it Jack, I can't believe it. After burn in even better? I also cut off the terminals to the speaker and soldered (WBT) them onto the tabs - The wiring inside these subwoofers (B&W) is not exactly top drawer stuff. I'd like to peek inside a current B&W and see if any progress has been made. This what happens when engineers and accountants design things.
Lightening your wallet.
Heh, heh, heh!
