Clear Day cables are made of silver.
SgreenP, I saw your post on the Clear Days. If I was in the market for speaker cables, I would definitely audition a pair.
I didn't realize that you could hang a pair of spekers off a Playstation, but what do I know?
Why not use some that fat gauge magnet wire that you often recommend?
I think Music Direct or Audio Advisor has some good deals on AQ cables. Or check out HCM, they have closeout deals.
Note:no affiliation with any of the above companies, other than as a customer.

Jeff....I believe you are talking of AntiCables when you speak of magnet wire. The upper range of theirs is actually silver, not magnet wire.
No, Tweaker often suggests diy using magnet wire. No reference at all to AntiCables. He is also anti silver, including the use of silver solder. I think in his mind silver equals bright.
Like I said, I saw you comments on your new speaker cable, and would definitely try a set based on your comments.
Years ago I redid a friend's NAD based system with a pair of original Advents and I think the second pair were Boston Acoustics. He needed long riuns, 4 of them, and was cheap. I wired those up with Radio Shack magnet wire, which was an improvement over the 16 gauge crap speaker wire that was commonly used when he got system in the mid to late '70s. It is kind of a poor mans Mapleshade.
Then there was me having a little fun with the Tweaker, as he is constantly going in many directions at once. While making recommendations he doesn't seem to follow for his own use.
Silver in some or many cases is bright. Or at least brighter than copper. Maybe copper is dull? Millions and Millions of my followers have come to this conclusion. It's hardly just me. This doesn't mean that all silver in all situations are bright. It doesn't mean that many of the twisted and useless comments about what I say are very bright either. It also doesn't mean that even if it was too bright for me that it doesn't sound good or great. I just don't prefer it's sound for myself from my experience with it. I'm not condemning silver in the same manner as stranded wire or boomy ported speakers. Please do a spell check for us all Beautox. That's the most important thing. Tweaker
Well Jeff, you are somewhat correct. I wanted to get rid of the Cardas hexlink 5 for a couple of reasons and finally did, so I am without my main cable. I recommended the mag wire for a budget speaker wire. I went to Home Depot and got some 12 AWG solid wire , generic stuff to have something to listen to and it blows away the Cardas $800 wire. A long time ago I guess I was tricked somehow. Haven't ordered up the 10AWG mag wire because this complete junk from Home Depot sounds so good and I've been thinking of other things. Clearer, faster more articulate bass, maybe slightly deeper, but only maybe, the Cardas is 10AWG total. The midrange is slightly more forward and realistic and cymbals have a more accurate brassy sound. The request for a recommendation is because I, like many others think that spending lots of money on wire made by special people with great reviews should be better than simple solid core wire , mag or otherwise. Technically the HD wire is not mag so caulk one up Jeff. You really nailed this one. Brilliant, and useful. Tweaker
.
Why mess around? #1 this wire has no insulation which of course is a risk for shorting, #2 if used the copper would oxidize which, from what I read is a poor conductor and can cause sonic problems,#3 If I remember correctly from tests done along time ago at a certain point, I believe after 12-10AWG sound quality deteriorates. I remember the sweet spot being 12-10. That's thicker than 10awg the sound can or does deteriorate. The Temco solderable 10awg magnet wire is on the way. This will be my speaker wire until such time I'm ready to try well reviewed commercial products. The 10 AWG, IMHO would be a great place to start and judge other speaker cable from this point of reference. Hope this answers your question DeKay. Tweaker
don't ask me to provide links to such knowledge.
I once tried DIY "nude" solid core silver 26awg & 30awg interconnects with 47 Labs OTA RCA's.
The sound was spectacular in my setup @ the time, but the dread of "something going way wrong" ended up being too stressful, so I ditched them.
Well DeKay if I were you I wouldn't give up on your spectacular silver IC's. I made mine, cu, with popsicle sticks with holes in them to keep the wires somewhat parallel. Mine are coated so I don't have to worry about shorts but I think parallel is the way to go. Also you can coat the bare silver wire with some kind of polyurethane varnish. Between the two you should be able to sleep at night and enjoy the spectacular, clear, smooth presentation that silver can and or does present. Going backwards ain't easy. Tweaker
I used cotton ribbon "swings" to hold/direct the cables. This said, the cables were located within a closed closet located outside the listening room, so sound waves & damping the wire were not a major issue.
Also ran "nude" wire through large 1/2 inch lab tubing (same/similar sound), but the lab tubing proved difficult to position/hold.
