Does the neutral reference still retain Cardas house sound of full, warm and relaxed highs? Or has it departed towards something erring on analytical and dry. We appreciate comparisons with other cables you have used. Thanks!
Follow Ups:
Cardas never working in my system. ...grainy, bloated, etc. ..and yet, I've heard it in other system with excellent results. You MUST try all cables in your own system to hear the effects.
Yes you pay for it. but if you do not like it, you can return it and try some others..
Every so often The Cable Company has a free offer to try their cables...that's when I order a pair I'm interest in. Their regular policy is that if you send them money for audition, you are committed to buy from them. Sometimes this may not work out.
.
IME, Cardas are rolled off and warm cables/cords.
I have been around Audio for 50 plus years...
It IS true Cardas used to be rather warm. In fact they were noted for having a warm sound.
The latest series, IE the past five years, Has seen Cardas do a total change. All the new Cardas cables are no longer warm!!!
I would say they are neutral, and clear. No more muddy bloat. Clarity is the new Cardas byword. Even the NAME is 'clear'.
I had an old Cardas I sold. I bought all Cardas Parsec. I love clarity, and the Cardas line has it. NOW, anyway.
For those who liked the old Cardas sound. Buying a new Cardas IC will totally disappoint.
Thanks everyone for your input.
@smelly_socks. Do you have any experience with the cardas hexlink 5c speaker cable? Would that fall into the new or old cardas sound signature camp? Thanks.
Designs from well prior to 2010 would be the old sound.
Ask when the design (name of product) was introduced. Any Cardas dealer with a long experience should know.
From a quick Google the full name of hexlink is "Golden Hexlink" with a date in the link of 2004, so it is a OLD style/sound. Warm and full. Hexlink is no longer being made per Cardas list of speaker cables currently available So Hexlink would be an old design, The classic warm Cardas sound.
The NEW Cardas clear design speaker cables are named:
Clear Beyond
Clear
Clear Reflections
Clear Light
Clear Sky
Parsec
The OLD style sound still for sale are:
Golden Cross
Cross
Twinlink
Crosslink
101
The Hexlink series were very warm sounding. The 5c was an attempt to add a little better top-end extension to the Hex cable.I believe it was unsuccessful.Just sounded a bit more open, but tarnished the virtues of the original Hex.IMO
