There are two leaded solders I have found or were brought to my attention that are very similar to the Chimera silver free, leaded 1.5% Cu as reported in some ones post. These are Alpha Core 60 38 2% cu found on ebay and Edsyn SS1250 sold at Newark and others, also leaded and 2% cu. Dennis at Chimera and I both avoid silver in solder and interconnects and I feel that it is likely that it sounds better than regular 60/40 for two or three reasons. Dennis's vast experience, and the fact that I like copper. There are reports on the net by others who find that at least some silver solder is bright and or unnatural sounding. I have found that to be true for the original Wonder solder and have no intention of trying to AB a bunch of silver content solders to find one I don't feel is bright or unnatural sounding. YMMV Tweaker
Follow Ups:
I've terminated scores of audio cables and circuits with the original Wonder Solder, as well as the newer formula Wonder Solder Signature, and find nothing bright nor etched about the performance of those old-school Sn62 solder products. Out of all audiophile devices, including cables and connectors (and solders) that suffer via the use of silver content as a conductive material, TRT's Wonder Solders would be at (or very near) the end of the list of offenders, IME. Solder with 2% silver content is so minimal in the scheme of things, that it makes little impact on the sonic signature of a solder joint other than higher-performance vs. without 2% silver content, IME. It's only when silver content solder reaches 4% that I've found any issues to notice, but as many folks may agree, 4% silver content solder joints tend to settle-in just fine, after a reasonable amount of burn-in time.
Any comments on the copper content solder? Pros cons?
I didn't even realize such a composition existed until these posts.
Cheers!

I have been told by reps from two solder companies, Kester and Alpa core that there is no corrosion problem with cu (2%) content solder beyond regular 60 40 solder. Nothing to worry about. Someone on ebay has 2% cu for sale, Alpha Core. Looks like the Chimera solder is a thing of the past. Tweaker
Acer Racing made a solder years ago that was 94% tin and 6% silver.....you would think it would burn your ears off.....wrong. It was the dullest solder I have ever heard. Wonder Solder Sig is not bright, as you say and sounds great and has silver.

Ric, I never said that Wonder Signature was bright. I never tried it. I found the Wonder Ultraclear somewhat bright, at least in comparison to 60 40 non silver solder. I could be remembering incorrectly but I think someone a long time ago said that the new Signature was less bright than ultraclear. That , of course is if either one has any brightness at least in comparison to non silver solder and that I am not hallucinating. Tweaker
