If I wanted to get away from RCA connectors - but NOT go to XLR - would BNC connectors be a good choice?, or not?

I doubt anyone would be able to audibly differentiate between connector types in double blind testing. The fact that RCA became the default standard is, to me, a shame. The locking nature of BNC is what attracted me to it. All my equipment has BNC panel jacks and I employ DIY BNC-terminated Belden 89259 interconnect.
Disadvantages to BNC:
(1) Someone else not paying attention and yanking on what they think are "stubborn" cables to unplug them.
(2) Equipment with BNC jacks may be less sellable.
Since neither of these concern me, I'll stick with BNC. To each his own.

For example, I can distinguish between KLE Copper Harmony and KLE Absolute Harmony RCA plugs (both of which I am very familiar with), blind or otherwise (two plugs of identical design apart from the small metal parts.)
And yes, that did surprise me.
stick w/ RCA or XLR connectors.
Actually, quality RCA sockets/plugs are superior to quality BNC sockets/plugs. Here is an interesting read and includes measurements...

CraigS actually only found one model of RCA (WBT 110/0210 socket) to be better than the BNCs tested. Otherwise his conclusion was that BNC was better than all OTHER RCA connector sets.
It wasn't clear whether the OP was interested in digital or analogue interconnects. If digital, then BNC would be the way to go - they are intended as an RF connector. Analogue audio interconnects are comparatively low frequency.

Thanks for the link-
Very interesting-
I am primarily working in the analogue domain- with a tuner and Phono stage-
but some new belden cable w/ very low capacitance came into my shop- and I hate to cut off the BNC connectors - but off they will come!

As long as the equipment has true bnc terminations. If you are going to use adaptors then stick with the RCA's
