I would be concerned about the three layer shielding design of the interconnect cable. The cable features an extra layer of shielding surrounding each conductor:
"Pangea Premier interconnects are triple-shielded. Each conductor has it's own shield and then the entire cable is encased in separate foil and braided shields."
It seems like overkill for a line-level signal, since the best sounding rca interconnect cables tend to actually be unshielded designs, IME. Due to the extensive shielding method interacting with the PE (polyethylene) dielectric, it would be interesting to measure the cable to find out if it might be a high-capacitance interconnect cable. just my 2 cents
Follow Ups:
Pangea seems to believe that shielding is a panacea.
You should understand that, in the audio business, the buzzwords you can attach to your product are often more important for sales than the product itself.
Since shielding protects stuff, more shielding MUST be a good thing, so let's advertise more (triple = three times better!) and audiofools will be strongly attracted.
Pangea should spend their money on proofreading ITS ad copy instead.
Peace,
Tom E
Some cable designers might play with LCR and reactance in order to "tune" a cable in a fashion that may subjectively present a more euphonic sonic signature. Otherwise, I see no sonic benefit in heavy-handed shielding for audiophile interconnect cables.
I'm with you, my interconnects and power cords are unshielded.
