I have been auditioning some cables these last few weeks.
One has stood out from the others...the High Fidelity CT-1
And thus my question. These seem to have a very believeable harmonic structure and always seem to add a 3-d type of reproduction of instruments and performers.I think that they do an incredible job with micro dynamics. If they were a shade better at macro, they would seem to be ideal.
Is this due to the magnets or just using a different conductor??
I keep coming back to them and prefering its' presentation.
Where might I look for alternatives to this different presentation in other products??
And can anyone relate the ascension in the High Fidelity cables (1,1e,1u)?
Thanks for looking and your contribution, should you decide to make one (or many).

Follow Ups:
I have owned and experienced the CT-1 and CT-1E cables. I also own CT-1U power cords.
The High Fidelity cables are amongst the very best that I have heard, period. The balance between musicality and resolution is the best I've ever heard (too many cables to list).
That said, while many will go overboard about how going up the line will offer unbelievable gains, personally, I've found the largest gain just switching to the CT-1.
Most of my cables are CT-1E, and while I will say the E is better, slightly more defined and relaxed, the WOW! factor that I experienced when first listening to the CT-1 was not nearly as great between the CT-1 and CT-1E. One could live happily with the CT-1. Having heard the differences between the CT-1 and CT-1E, while I do own mostly CT-1E, I have no desire to upgrade any further up the High Fidelity line.
Hey Tidy!
I have used very, very expensive $10K Stealth Audio Sakra ICs in my audio system, which consists of:
1) Mastersound Reference 845, integrated, SET amp.
2) Gold Note Stibbert CDP/Transport.
3) Audio-gd Reference 7.1 DAC.
4) Sachiko double-back-loaded horns with a Dayton PS220-8 fullrange driver that has a proprietary, 7-step, cone treatment applied and Fostex T900a super-tweeters crossed in at 8Khz.
Needless to say, this system is very revealing and differences in ICs, speaker wires and power cords are easily heard. After trying a myriad of ICs I still found those Stealth Sakras ICs to be amazing, but how many people can afford $10K ICs? Sadly I had to sell mine because of mounting medical bills.
These days I have only 3 pairs of ICs that I use in my system:
-- Rullit Audio "Late Gothic" ICs that were supposedly expensive.
-- $500 silver ICs custom-made by a local fellow
-- $200 Grover Huffman SRC II ICs ( I believe this model is discontinued )
If I were you I'd seriously consider trying one of Grover's ICs! Grover offers a 60 day, in-home audition of all his wires! In fact, as long as the wires are in undamaged re-sellable condition. If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, you may return the item for a full refund up to 60 days from when you received the product! You are only responsible for the original shipping cost of the item. So how can you lose? And you might be as impressed as I was with Grover's wires. I personally believe they are the best inexpensive wires that don't sound like inexpensive wires!

Thanks! for sharing- Tom.
it is truly amazing (to me) the incredible cables/power cords that are in the marketplace these days. My hope is to audition all of them!
You're welcome and those Grovers are absolutely amazing for the money and for a lot more than you'll pay for them!

I have some of Grover Huffman's recent IC's and they are very good. There are better but it will cost you. For the money I could use all of Grovers wires in my main system and be happy
Alan
That's very true Alan. IMHO it would cost a lot more money just to get a bit better than those Grover Huffman wires.

Many do suggest Grover cables/cords -Alan.
Once you've heard the Grovers you understand just how much more $$$$$ you'll have to spend just to get noticeably better than Grover Huffman's wires...

Here are my favorite cables. They have everything

Have not heard the Jorma but have heard the entry level CT-1 and prefer the Sablon

Rick Schultz's HF CT-1 ICs has a lot of posts on Audiogon :)
The CT-1 cables are superb and as you go up the line things get significantly better.I have tried many cables, some more expensive than the HF cables, but none have given me the musical enjoyment that the HF cables do.They simply are superb. I have an entire loom currently. I cannot comment on the Jorma cables but have heard great things about them also. Would NOT change for any other brand now..the HFs are that good in my system.I can also say that Rick Shultz could not be a nicer person to deal with.Good luck with your journey.
Are Rick Shultz and Ric Shultz the same persons?
I have dealt with Ric (no 'k') but a 'c' in Schultz - of EVS. He lives near me in the Santa Cruz Mountains. He is a one man band who marches to the beat of a different drum, but is a very nice person and is as honest as the day is long. A tweaker at heart, and a good listener. A track record in analogue amp implementations going back decades.
Rick I do not know.
Regards,
Geoff
Actually, it appears that there is Rick Schultz and Ric Schultz but not the same people and Rick makes cables ... how about that, interesting and a bit confusing! :)

"Googling" Jorma and the Eichman ICs doesn't yield many results.Actually Pingping comes up for the Eichman and for Jorma, there is the entry of the dealer who used to handle them and Marten Design and how these lines were dropped (due to heavy discount and the factory selling direct). The former was a problem with EDGE.Dealers tried to sell it,but the customers contacted them directly and bought for a discount.
Not that I am opposed to discounts, but when you buy for 30-40% off and eventually sell-you can expect about 20% of MSRP.Great savings for the initial purchase and a great deal for the "used" purchaser.
I suppose the 2nd mouse does get the cheese.

Did you try the KLEI and Jorma links...
Yes,clicked on both.It would seem that the Eichman competitors are the gZero6 and 10.The Jorma cables seem to be priced above them around $2K+.
It doesn't make sense to me to be obscure about what goes into a cable-highest quality everything ,but not mention the conductor or a special weave or insulators/dialectric.
Are the Eichman ICs fairlly new?
I am surprised that there has been no mention of the Stealth or other ICs.

Tom-
the HF CT-1 is among the very best in cables. There is an outstanding thread on the HF brand over on Audiogon. Bodhi uses Jorma cabling, I know this brand is outstanding as well.
There are too many excellent to outstanding cables/cords out there, so take your time. Both of these brands are on my short-list to audition.
Happy Listening!
Tom, if you're looking for cables which sound natural and harmonically rich, I can personally recommend Jorma. Jorma cables are made in Sweden and have been used in the awesome Swedish Statement system in the past. I use Jorma Prime xlr's & pc's, as well as Jorma Statement sc's in my system. They have amongst the best midrange i've ever heard & have excellent resolution and sound staging. The Jorma Prime xlr's & Statement sc's are Jorma's best work. And I can tell you I will never sell mine. If I had to sum up their sound in a word, I would say "natural". Of course, there are many other great cables out there, and no doubt other members will chime in with their views.

I have these and find them to be really wonderful :) I find them to have excellent harmonic texture and layering and excellent macro presentation :) These ICs also have excellent imaging, dynamics, clarity, high freq (highs) and low freq (bass) extension, PRAT, timbre and for me, leave most other cables, that I have listened too, in their wake :) Do not worry about the couple of rude posts in the thread :)
Sorry, I have no idea about the other High Fidelity CT-1 aspects that you have asked about but if they sound good then I suppose you have answered your own question :)
